As we had been on the move a fair bit we decided to stop just south of La Rochelle in Châtelaillon-Plage for a few days to just take it easy. Châtelaillon-Plage is a beach town not too dissimilar to Dromana where we live so it was a nice easy going place to stay. Once we had settled in at our accommodation we decided to walk along the foreshore promenade. It was a lovely day for a good walk. Initially we walked downhill past a marina. The tide was clearly out. Our host had told us that there were huge water level changes due to the tides in this area.
Soon we were on the promenade and we weren’t alone. The warm weather had encouraged many others to be out walking.
We checked out some of the beachside cafes and restaurants as we went.
We probably walked a few kilometres so when we spotted La Petite Havana on the beach we took the opportunity to stop for a drink. Beer o’clock!
We finished our day at a lovely Italian restaurant, Le Chatel. The friendly staff soon had us eating and drinking. I ate pasta carbonara and Karen had a vegetarian pizza. Gelati was a nice way to end our meal and a relaxing day.
